Settled in the heart of Western Ghats, these hills are a part of the Nilgiri reserve. Adiyogi Shiva statue is one of the most popular Shiva statues in India set amid the lush green forest of Velliangiri Mountains. This spectacular bust statue, standing at a height of 112 ft, is carved out of 500 tonnes of steel. A part of the statue is the Isha Yoga Centre. and stands at a height of 112 feet. The main aim behind this statue was to promote the culture of yoga and meditation in the country. Gedee car museum is the most exotic place for car and bike lovers. The museum is home to a large collection of vintage as well as latest international cars and bikes. There is an impressive international collection of automobiles that every vehicle lover would enjoy.
Some of the major attractions of Coimbatore district are Aliyar dam, Monkey falls, Cholayar dam, Botanical garden and horticulture farms. All these places are worth visiting. Coimbatore serves as an entry and exit point to neighbouring Kerala State and the ever-popular hill station of Udhagamandalam (Ooty). It is the landing point for those who want to take the mountain train that runs from Mettupalayam, just 35 kms from Coimbatore.
